On the Hertzfeld EP for the Vinyl Club label, he comes up trumps once more, this time thanks to a four-tracker that’s notable for its many off-kilter ways and unpredictable mannerisms. The action doesn’t take long to come around either, as the title track is full of zest and colour. Although it starts off on a minimal edge, it soon morphs into an entirely different beast thanks to its low-fi vibes.
‘Drunken’ is a moodier beast, but one that’s again indebted to futuristic sounding tropes. ‘’Purple’’ is my pick of the lot. A bit ominous in texture, it lingers throughout thanks to its many moody tones and keeps the suspense perked throughout. Last but not least is ‘’And Higher Black’’, another tension-filled effort that’s also full of discerning textures and is produced with great flair. All things told, this is a killer release by Mr. Ringeisen.
