Luca Bear & Giorgia Angiuli – New Mission – (WOW!)
DMC World Magazine
Mar-T’s WOW! The label is typically associated with big-room tech-house pastures, so it’s with some delight that we report about just how very different the label’s latest is. It arrives from the label owner’s Italian compatriot Luca Bear, who joins forces with Giorgia Angiuli for a release that’s exuding class throughout. The three track EP is ripe with sensuous moments and periods of introspective bliss, a fact that’s epitomised by the title track, New Mission. The vocals are spot on, and weave in and out of the track with a finesse that’s hard to pinpoint. The kicks are firm but the melodies are soft, creating a neat juxtaposition that’s apparent for most of the track. The bulbous synths only add to the overall madness, and it’s not for nothing that this is the lead track on the EP. ‘My Time’ opts for some crazy shuffling percussion and again vocals play a prominent role, this time as a result of a male vocalist. Stripped back and only used when they’re at their most devastating and definitely warranted, this is another track that’s notable for its almost contradictory sounds. Seeing us out the gate is the sounds of ‘Keep It Magic’. This time about, the producers intentions are laid bare from the off, as we’re given an insight into their almost celestial visions. A real groover, it signs off the package with the sort of panache that’s evident throughout.
