On the mighty Silicone Soul label, Darkroom Dubs, so you’ve every right to expect it to be aimed purely at getting people to move those feet, and two tracks will do exactly that. “A Better Man” employs almost hoover-ish bass to drive along a track that plays with various tricks, throwing in some trance elements, some Italo references, even some tech-house, but always maintaining the momentum and keeping the melodic riffs to the fore, and making a good mix of the varying styles. “New York” adopts a fuller retro-revisionist feel with some climbing acid riffs and more melancholy lines. Final track, “Tumbleweed” seems to be trying for some comedy value electro stadium pomp-rock, resulting in the kind of mess that even hardened electro-trash fans will wince at.
