Peru’s Matias Aguayo creates four super-deep cuts for Soul Jazz, all loosely
based around a house template, but owing as much to tech, minimalism, disco
and Italo as anything else. “Argento” is a slow groover, echo-chamber bass
and synths intertwining with whispered vocals; “Uno” delicately flows over
clicks, thrumming bass and eerie soundtrack styled keyboard riffs; “Papel
Original” grinds out some techy-funk on midtempo chunky drums that gradually
adds echoing percussion to disorientating effect; “Lineas” rounds it off
darkly with scary vocals and ominous bass sounds. Dark, future house music
with fantastic attention to detail in terms of production.
