In it’s original form Matteo Esse & Sant’s ‘Funk’ comes on like a buzzing bundle of energy, as quirky key riffs & fat stabs ride the rhythm, while Corrina Joseph performs a feel good vocal, that genuinely sounds like she’s having a great time. Over on the flip however, Robbie Rivera delivers a much tougher mix, stripping it back, then giving the key riffs an acidic feel, whilst fattening up the beats & generally giving it a lot more poke, & then just to totally throw you off balance, he’s added that ol’ chestnut, the piano breakdown. Looks like the Italians have got another peaktime roof raiser on their hands.
