Mirror Music are a new project from Silicone Soul’s Graeme Reedle and filmscore wizard Dave Donaldson [who’s just done music for The Incredible Hulk movie! The upcoming debut album is huger than the big green fella’s radioactive knackers but before that appears this second bunch of title track reworks whet the appetite nicely. Extra marks for calling the new version of ‘Fun’ the 12Ó Disco Mix, hoisting prime blaxploitation movie melodies over propulsive bongo-splattered backdrop before Reedie hooks up with Craig Morrison to turn in the shimmering Hypnohouse Dub of Sea Of Tranquility and its subtle use of reggae elements. There’s also a digital-only remix of ‘Midnight Sun’ by Irish DJ-producer Marq Welsh, aka Questionmarq. The wealth of ideas and gorgeous musical interplay raging in this duo is startling, taking house up another level while Darkroom Dubs is in a class by itself. This little taster only stokes anticipation for what must be one of the albums of the year.
