Although at the forefront of the British electro movement, Crosstown Rebels along the way made a wrong turn and ended up in disco-house territory. Yet despite this being their first foray into the glitz of Studio 54 land, they’ve not only delivered the goods but look like they could have one of the biggest club records of the year here, and one that’s already building as a summer anthem thanks to repeat Ibiza spins on Radio 1 and an Essential New Tune accolade in the process. Musically this rides the same burbling bassline that made the Jackson’s ‘Shake Ya Body (Down To The Ground)’ so irresistible, and is injected with striking string runs and vintage horn stabs that perfectly compliment a pure old school delivered vocal.
Speechless? I’m bloody gob smacked by how good this is.
