I love me a bit of Morcheeba – and not just because they’re arguably one of the foundation stones of any self-respecting triphop collection but because they write rocking good tunes too. Here ‘Make Believer’ is remixed by a variety of established and up and coming production talents and what a fragrant bouquet it makes. Timo Maas sets his scene fifty shades darker, with his ECG / vital stats, percussive roll around on a king size bed sized bassline that’s covered with black satin sheets, psychotic strings and in a room with the blinds fully drawn. Blindfolds are optional. Ben Gomori kneads and works the vocals into a swirling, stuttery, slo mo house arrangement that grooves along beautifully. Don La Maison take it upbeat for a Seven Nation Army reminiscent, booty bumping workout with a skanking, shoulder shimmying attitude. Lovely stuff.
