The first thing you’ll notice is Ruby Wilburn’s classy vocals which feel reassuringly familiar in a song that sits somewhere between Barry White and any number of seventies soul renditions. The second is the talented Mr Yukihiro Fukutomi who proceeds to twist it all around broken beats and a much more contemporary mood to make the song sparkle. Which leaves The Original Blackjazz Mix of ‘A Night In Marseille’ to suggest all you need to know about this deliciously, smooth piano and trumpeted groove.
