OdD is a London duo with a sound palette that’s strictly discerning, so it’s of no real surprise to hear that it was them who helped launched the Sol Asylum label some time back. Julie Marghilano’s label has grown from strength-to-strength in that time thanks to a concoction of deep and tech-fueled flavours, and OdD’s latest duly lies in the middle of both somewhere. Either way, it’s a tantalising affair from start to finish. The three-trackers gets going thanks to the whimsical sounds of ‘’Vortex’’. Although it kicks off on a fairly innocuous vibe, it soon picks up steam thanks to an underbelly of deep synths and a bunch of low-end frequencies that lend it a raucous edge. ‘’Pyramid’’ is another hypnotic and twisted slice of techno, and although it rarely deviates away from such traits, it sticks to the script in a manner that’ll make it a fitting DJ tool on the floor. Last but not least we’re greeted to ‘’Sphere’’, which is the release’s undoubted highlight. A swashbuckling myriad of clever percussion greets us, before this becomes more pronounced alongside the gorgeous and sophisticated sounding bassline. In all, it’s another thoroughbred release from a label that rarely if ever disappoints. Tracklisting: A1.Vortex B1.Pyramid B2.Sphere
