I like the fact that you can’t always predict what you are about to hear when Crosstown Rebels deliver their next release. This doesn’t break with that tradition either as this alternative sounding production blurs the lines between Rock and Dance, with David Ashby’s raspy vocals backed up by fuzzy guitar licks and breezy melodies. The excellent Brennan Green versions inject some serious funk into the rhythm with plenty of eighties references and a looser, broken feel. Second track ‘The Theory Of Strings’ again plays with a combination of styles with the vocal once again sounding like it was destined to be heard live.
