Well hello there big boy! Mr 303 in all his glory, exposing himself just like it was 1988 and benefiting from a trio of sonic activists – Eddie Reynolds, Paul Reynolds and Dean Feeney – hammering away at their respective instruments and bouncing off each other. Not a mobile ringtone impression in sight! After the Trax Records-style groove and acid motif is established, dense strings enter the picture and builds into massive old school-style monster, essentially stoked by the brutally effective drum programming. Then Lasimp Sanskrit comes in accentuating mournful strings, adding deep resonance with a new Rhythim Is Rhythim-flavoured bassline. The flip’s ‘Space Disco’ is deeper, sparser and clonked-up with suitable space tones, coming with Sonja Moonear’s remix adding an ethereal new dimension and bassatronic overpants. All round, a massive reminder of how essential the human element still has to be in dance music.
