Anyone who remembers ‘ A Million Voices’ will know that Otto Knows has a sly and unrepentant way with a catchy tune and ‘Parachute’ sees that skill develop so much further. This time, Otto takes the peak time podium as the jump off, then twists it with a hard rocking, guitar grunge arrangement that tears your body limb from limb. The male lyric suspends you in a world of perfect pop then the sparse vocal, strummed guitars and swelling synth pads provide the parachute that brings you back to earth with a smile on your face. I wish most of what we now lazily call EDM output was as even remotely as interesting or uplifting as this.
