This is getting repetitive; every time I review the latest missile from this Italian I reckon they can’t top the previous monster and then they not only equal it but set the benchmark even higher. The roll continues, especially now that great Shara Nelson tune has been licensed over here to NRK. This is Outmode’s second for the label, following last year’s ‘True’. Apparently inspired by Glastonbury, it’s an episodic spiritual epic kickstarted by weird brass and electronic whirrs then taking off on its own gathering momentum which changes gear midway to hop aboard the ship to the space disco with funky upfront bass and bongos washed in intergalactic effects. That would have been good enough on its own as a one-sided twelve but there’s also a fearsome body of remixes: Andy Chatterley and Nic Fanciulli aka Buick project hoist a real pearler of a treatment which sets up an undulating tribal-tinged space disco groovathon sprinkled with a magical atmosphere of its own. Brendan Moeller’s Beat Pharmacy Dub is glorious, littered with wah wah amidst extra-terrestrial swirls and another cool vibe. Lewis Ryder’s version is a hard, driving slammer capable of much carnage. There’s also a Reprise of the original, light on the beats, rounding off a truly spectacular package.
