For those of you long enough in the tooth to remember how popular ‘The Guest List’ was as a dj acappella – from the Ministry of Sound to Cielo and beyond – every dj American, French, English you name it – must have used it at least once to lift their set. Well, Pele and Shawnecy have gone one better, committing their effort to vinyl as ‘Better For My Brain’ – sprinkling said acappella over a bumping, rolling, tech house beat with open hi-hats, muffled voices, spanish diva attitude and a nagging bassline. ‘The Guru’ switches on the aircon for a cooler groove that treads a furrow deep enough to plant wild fig trees and still have room for growth.
