Phil T Project feat. D’Layna
Love Commandments
Open Bar Music

Giselle Jackson’s late-millennium Manifesto release never did live up to the anthemic nature of the song or the vocal prowess of its singer – often compared to the best song the Sounds Of Blackness never recorded. Writer and producer Phil Turnipseed now enlists the services of D’Layna who instead of retreading the diva’s previously pulpit-pounding path follows a more soulful trail. The song subsequentially takes on a new life form and whilst still gospel-etched, is a tad less energetic and so all the more club-friendly for it; particular in Davidson Ospina’s polished remix and Oscar P & Enrico Mantini’s piano-enveloped offering. The Original mix sticks closer to the initial blueprint and brings back happy memories of the first time I heard this on the Twilo soundsystem one cold November New York night.
