This is also great. The Ep’s cool as title track opens proceedings with a melodically charged sequence of notes that all at once uplift the spirit while reaffirming the power of music to transform. Shimmering, shuffling drums move this along accompanied by a bright score of Jazz-Funk styled keys that feel contemporary where others often fail to do so. Next, ‘Rt. 28’ again squeezes every segment of Jazzy goodness across an array of funky beats via another great instrumental track. Leaving the very brilliant, ‘Gold Trim’ to end with a flourish of gorgeous musicianship that tells its own tale via fluttering synth lines, a sprinkling of famous Rhodes piano plus perfect Flute, and is about as good as anything I’ve heard in the genre in quite some time.
