If you like your deep house cocktail with an indie / rock guitar twist then shaken and stirred with a smoky female folk vocal then look no further than ‘Gunfire’ – since it plays straight to those galleries and more besides. Less stunning to my ears but no less musically appealing is the flipside Pretty Pink featuring Tears and Marble ‘What Is Love’. If you liked Haddaway then this Lana Del Rey / Twin Peaks-ish drawled and ethereal vocal interpretation of ‘What Is Love’ that’s draped lazily over a dark, wonky piano and plucked guitar arrangement will haunt and surprise you. Definitely worth the purchase.
