Rob Hes is a Dutch techno talent very much on the rise. He has released on Christian Smiths always excellent Tronic label to great effect before now and here does so once more. This time he serves up there spine tingling main room techno tracks that are full of feeling and laced with infectious groove. He has also had outings on labels like Bedrock and SCI+TE so really knows his onions when it comes to techno. Great sound design characterises all three of the cuts here – they are expertly produced, every sound really has its place and sounds hugely authentic as he crafts his abstract techno worlds. Each one really differs and first to go is the raved up, paranoid sounding and hiccuping Raised By Another, which is full of weird and unsettling rave sirens and bleepy patterns as lumpy drums roll on below. Battle field is more stripped back and spooky, with more rich melodies making for a dark, post apocalyptic vibe. Last but by no means least is Failure, which sways to and fro in inviting fashion, with glacial melodies rippling above soft edged beats. It’s a really driving track that will no doubt be massive on the right dance floors the summer.
