Annie Mac’s ‘next hype’, Sam Sure satisfies the hunger for new, directional music with ‘hunger’ a healthy slice of pitched vocal heaven, lifted and raised by lyrical yeast. Shadowchild adds some classic Armand Van Helden hi-hats to his popcorn popped snares, atmospheric, fx-ed vocal breakdowns and a bassline that has more rubber in it than a Tesco’s cheque. Jaded opt for a brooding, Lil Louis infused, peak time excursion. DVWLX rinse and wring the arrangement for every drop of grimy goodness they can get out of it. It’s gutsy and raw and I like that. One to watch for 2015.
