Two tracks from the sumptuous lush but gritty Doves LP “Kingdom Of Rust” get the sonic floor friendly treatment. Andrew Weatherall tackles the excellent “Compulsion”, ditching the Doves vocal with the Blondie “Rapture” melody, and concentrates on the “This Is Radio Clash” side of things, taking it into the dirty dub chamber and spooking it out in a dense marijuana fog riding on a skunk funk groove. It’s classic Weatherall and definitely one for the collection. Meanwhile Richard Norris in his The Time And Space Machine guise propels “Jetstream” up above the clouds and beyond with a psychedelic nu-disco treat, all swirling cosmic dust orbiting a brave new world far far away. Back down to Earth and Sasha goes for an epic dancefloor peaker, as driving rhythms get tweaked amongst layering guitars and woosh effects. Last but definitely not least, Lindstrom does a version of “Jetstream” for those that like being tipped over the edge, as Aladdin Sane pianos jostle with out of control jazz funk. Now that’s what I call a bumper remix package.
