“Go Then, Bye” is the third single to be lifted from Speech Debelle’s forthcoming debut album “Speech Therapy”, following “The Key” with natural progression, which was never going to be an easy task. “Go Then. Bye” is a hip hop break up song told with heartfelt honesty, set on handclap rhythms with melancholic piano and strings. “The hardest thing is to say goodbye, and harder than that is to not start cryin’, my strength has now become my weakness, cos I wish the truth were a lie” And just as Speech Debelle is breaking your heart, her sense of humour kicks in, ”You took my heart like a thief, you emptied me out like a drum, but I’m not silly or dumb, so take your X-box and go ‘long”. Mike Skinner’s streets have just been taken over by Speech Debelle’s South London manor, or should that be manner. Top draw.
