Sonny Fodera & Gene Farris – We Work It – (Visionquest)

Sonny Fodera is very much a mordent hose champion with lots of EPs, LPs and mxi albums under his belt already. He likes to collaborate, too, and does so again here with Chicago legend Gene Farris on a new cut on Visionquest. Their original gets remixed by label founder Lee Curtiss and Freaks.

In original form, We Work It is a rolling bit of deep house with spritely synths and rubbery drums. A starry night sky unfolds up top as spoken word snippets talk abut substance abuse and working it. It’s a classic house track that is sure to become a big singalong hit this summer. The first remix friends Lee Curtiss doing what he does best – freaking out with his synths and layering up lots of angry energy and abstract, sharp edged patterns. It’s high impact stuff before Luke Solomon and Justin Harris then remix as Freaks. Sounding like a lost Gemini cut, their track its hurried and energetic, sweeping you off your feet and keeping you on your toes for days. Once again then, this is another winning package.
