When producer Dave Lee isn’t remixing the pop elite or scoring top ten hits in his own right under a variety of guises, he likes to take time out to make live music. Regrouping with his Ÿber-talented muso team, and taken from their third album ‘Moving With The Shakers’, comes these two tasty offerings. As with what’s gone before it’s unashamedly musical, and continues the man named Joey Negro’s obvious homage to the greats of the disco era. Somewhat surprising then to report that ‘Fashion’ is a cover from Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust past with a retro ’80s funk underbelly. It’s backed with the soul drenched Roy Ayers-esque ‘Journey To The Sun’ with a horn section that would make Earth Wind & Fire proud to call their own. The resultant is a superlative blend of silky, oak-smoked grooves and lazy breaks that expertly bridge the gap between yesteryear and the present with much finesse.
