Perc Trax is one of the UK’s most constantly-thrilling pure techno labels under the deadly helming of Ali’Perc’ Wells who’s made a fine [and modest] choice by giving the first full-length album to UK-born but Japan-based producer Ben Gibson, who launched his career in 2006 on fan Jeff Mills’ 6277 label and never looked back. Here he’s come up with a complete electronic master-piece built to be listened to as a whole after the ultra-deep intro of ‘Wirklichkeit’ sets the mood for a journey through techno in its most classic form – spectacularly bass-driven, alien and exploratory, often landing in new sonic spheres. By the closing ‘Same Symptons, Same Combat – Scene 2’, the music is fierce, rumbling and cathartic, but getting there is a multi-faceted joy.
