Anyone who knows Tom Wax and Toolroom’s work knows that they’re not ones for messing around when it comes to crafting scrupulous tech-house for the masses. On the contrary, the producer is an expert at conjuring up such sounds, which perhaps goes some way to explaining just why he continues to enthrall with his brilliantly melodic sheen. Here, he lines up with Strobe for Hnagrumania, a track that really does take the breadth away for all the right reasons. What’s more, quality over quantity has always been the boys raison d’etre, in spite of the fact that they do release tracks at an impressively consistent rate. And so it is that this EP singles just the one track. It’s an oft-repeated trick by Toolroom, but a clever one too, particularly because it allows the track to shine on its own merits and without distraction. Anyhow, the track in question is a rollicking track that’s full of momentum and feel-good groove, it’s the sort of track you can’t help nodding your head to, even hours after you’ve left the club. Melodic and full of purpose, it’s a groover that’s as chilled as it is downright enjoyable. Hangudrumania is a triumph from the first beat to the last.
