Venter – Lost EP – (Catch Recordings)

Forthcoming on Catch Recordings, Lost is the exquisite three piece EP from Polish production duo Venter who now join the ranks alongside Rob Barker, Bobby O’Donnell, Doubtingthomas and Khristian K.

Lost opens with the title track which immediately grabs your attention through complex hi hat rhythms and an echoing scream build before launching into the soft thuds of deep kick drums. Through horn infused pads, trippy arpeggiated chords and soaring melodies this track progresses towards something uplifting before throwing you into a captivating groove.

Translation follows a similar pattern, offering up more rolling hi hats, carried by broad swells of echoing synth and pulsating bass across a spectacular seven minute journey. Hyatt is powered by yet more simple melodic swells, whilst the arpeggiated elements return, locking in effortlessly around the more dominant bass line that provides the essential backbone for what is another spine tingling track.

Lost is the standout track, solely from its melodic factors and the story it tells. The EP as a whole delivers what some music these days doesn’t, taking you on a journey from start to finish in true progressive style.
