If there’s one word that pretty much sums up what the Cohesive label is about thus far, it’s originality. The Mexican imprint, helmed by Alex Rubio of MEXA fame, might only be a number of releases in, but they’re already leaving a big impression thanks to the many discerning vibes that have come about from their releases. For their latest, Rubio calls on WD2N, aka Yuri Lima and Ivan Kovaek that has appeared on MEXA before. The name of the EP is Apollo – and it really is one that’s grafted on a gargantuan tip. Leading the line is the discreet but forceful wares of the title track. A track that’ll make the listener stand up and take notice, it’s ominous in a similar vein to Art Department at their best, and just as you think you’ve got it figured out it’ll bring the listener on a whole new voyage that’s sure to leave you yearning for more. Fortunately in that respects, it’s also accompanied by a cracking remix, supplied to us here by Chaty & Tamez. The boys’ take on the track is no less impressive, as they beef up the intensity thanks to a rotund belly of wide-eyed synths. Apollo touches on many moods and sounds, and the production nous that courses through its veins is hard not to admire.
