It was a ballsy move when Derrick Carter and Luke Solomon used the word Classic to name their fledgling imprint back in the last century, but the moniker as been brilliantly apt. That’s down to their ability to pick great records time and time again, and the latest from Rudman is no different. Enlisting the vocal talents of Andre Espeut (who has a touch of Shawn J Wright about him), this is all about the horn which elevates everything to a higher plane. It’s crisply produced and sparsely constructed, a low slung strut which is impossible to listen to without pursing your lips. Charles Webster does a good job on the remix but there’s nothing to ever make you look beyond the original, which is made for jiving whilst drinking prosecco on the Argonaughty.
