Beat Pharmacy
Wikkid Times Remixes
Deep Space Media

Brendon Moeller, aka Beat Pharmacy, hit some kind of dub heaven plateau with his Wikkid Times album for Francois K’s Deep Space Media label. Now some tracks have been turned over to the remixers with some pretty transcendental results whose overall spirit just reminds me of an early 90s white label called ‘Words Of Far I’ the way slo-mo pulses are laced with electronic smoke-clouds and conscious vocals except, with the new technology which seems to get its most productive exercise upon the minimal house pastures, the treatments take on a bottomless deepness and resonance. The set kicks off with Appleblim&Komonazmuk giving Paul St Hilaire’s haunting vocal a spectral backdrop of swelling bass and atmospherics, before Ireland’s John Daly tackles ‘Time’, planting Damon Aaron’s vocal over a spangled hallucino-house vamp. Echospace’s Stephen Hitchell mix reintroduces Paul St Hilaire on an airy float through ‘Sunshine’, before Wagon Repair’s Deadbeat takes ‘Ghostship’ and Spaceape’s expounding into a deep house-dub undergrowth rarely glimpsed by humans, completing a gorgeously all-enveloping aural blanket which’ll make you think while you soak.
