Dalindeo’s base is undoubtedly in Brazilian music, and they ain’t afraid to let it show on this, their latest double-sider for Finland’s Ricky-Tick label. “Go Ahead, Float” is a hard-hitting bossa with rough, breathy flute battling and interlocking with the drums and horn solos. The drums & percussion make it seem like a hundred carnivals at once, especially when combined with the scat vocals. If you’re caught on a jazz dancefloor when this drops, make sure you know how to move, as it’s definitely not one for playing wallflower to. “Voodoo” is, despite the title, a much mellower, Sunday afternoon in the sun moment, catching the band in a more reflective moment.
