Copenhagen’s Figurines bounce into 2008 with the launch of a new EP and an album ‘When The Deer Wore Blue’ to follow. The title cut on the ‘Hey Girl EP’ will definitely put a spring in your step with it’s hooky riffs & licks, soaring melody and overall feel good vibes. This is what the two & a half minute adrenalin pop 45 is all about. However, ‘Hey Girl’ comes backed with the dramatic ‘The Air We Breathe’, which sees the Figurines taking a leaf out of Mercury Rev’s book, as haunting harmonies get swept up in melancholic psychedelics to great effect. The EP goes out on a Prins Thomas Disco Mix of ‘The Air We Breathe’, building in layers over a straight 4/4 beat and giving off a slightly chilled and content feel. Nice.
