Foy Vance
Be With Me [Free Association Rework]
Wurdamouth

Although he’s to be congratulated on hitting the Hollywood soundtrack scene to such success, electronic dance music isn’t quite so lively when David Holmes isn’t around with his epic sonic forays. For a while, the man’s vision and knack of demolishing a dancefloor outstripped practically anybody. A few years ago he started plugging into soul and funk roots under the free Association banner and now returns with an absolute monolith of a remix for hot Irish singer Foy Vance, whose debut album Hope came in for glowing praise last year. This is dirty, lowdown and humping as it gets, all crashing beats, psychedelic synth eruptions and a bass like a blue whale’s scrotum, over which the vocal sways and howls. It’s absolutely great and I’m really pleased to be able to say that.
