Fronted by Jean Paul “Bluey” Maunick, Incognito have rode the crest of the British soul & funk music scene since the early 1980’s, 15 albums to the Incognito name being no small feat. As a reference to the group’s 25th anniversary, “The 25th Chapter” funks it out in fine style, trademark horns on display, ably backed up by some superb guitar work from Bluey himself. Ski Oakenfull gives it a more current flavour, smoothing out the edges for an extended broken journey. Should any further incentive be needed, there’s a bonus track to this 12″ release called “Mindin’ My Business”, which sees the original jazz-funk don George Duke guesting on keyboards.
