If it wasn’t for the clipped-up drums this could sit quite comfortably in the techno department but, at the end of the day, Planet Mu stalwart Alan Myson’s first outing on his new Atom River label is simply beautifully-constructed advanced electronic music. The four tracks unfurl spaced synths veering from ethereal to jazz-funk motifs, while the drums step or vanish like a budgie’s penis, in the case of the stunning ‘Manhattan’ taking on a cold, metallic veneer. Major talent.
