Jonathan Jeremiah
Happiness
Island

Much lauded Londoner Jonathan Jeremiah is set to unleash his debut single for Island Records, “Happiness”. Don’t know what the original version is like, but these remixes are quite simply superb. Morgan Geist is up first, setting the top notch soulful vocals on a bed of 80’s inspired grooving pop, a sort of The Style Council meets The Dazz Band, but with classic 60’s/70’s song writing elements. Quiet Village on the other hand go for lush orchestration over crashing waves, gradually building a stunning arrangement, that makes you want to laugh and cry at the same time, and when Jonathan Jeremiah comes in, it’s absolutely perfect in a Burt Bacharach kind of way, his voice brings a number of Soul legends to mind, and if the original of “Happiness” is anywhere near as good as these mixes, then we’re in for a treat when the debut album drops next year.
