A busy first year for Keith – industry recommendations aplenty, airplay from Zane Lowe, remixes from Herbert and Simian Mobile Disco – and a soon-to-land debut album in the form of “Red Thread”. First up, though, is the single “Back There”. Produced by Nick “Boxsaga / Spektrum” Phillips, it manages to reach back to early New York not-disco roots circa Talking Heads prime, Mark Nicholls’ guitar doing little to diminish this and aiding Bayston’s vocals greatly. However, most might initially be drawn to the group’s bare-faced front in covering Sebestian Tellier’s iconic “La Ritournelle”. Their approach brings out some great drums, keeping the tempo and adding even more (if that were possible) atmosphere, perfectly suited to the dreamlike vocal delivery. Maybe a great song is just a great song, regardless, as it definitely has something about it. Whatever the case, Keith look set to make their voice heard this summer.
