Ladytron

The original is a pacey affair from Ladytron, with their synonymous cocktail of haunting melancholic female vocals and electro-rock groove, stunningly produced by heavyweight studio-nik Jim Abiss (Kasabian, DJ Shadow, Placebo).  But flip the 12″ over and let the overwhelmingly sublime low-slung groove of Simian Mobile Disco, wash over you like a wave of sonic morphine. The Simian mix plunges the listener into an almost half-speed version of reality, vocals unintelligibly dubbed out, chopped up, dirtied up and stuttered to great effect over a pelvic-pummeller of a bass-line. Moody electroid acid synth-lines weave in and out of this late-night listen before it disintegrates into wild filter action and fades away into oblivion. A-grade quality.
