One-time Fat City counter man Martin Brew serves up two cuts from his recent long player for some hot and tasty remix action. Platinum Pied Pipers have made a name for themselves with their now trademark Detroit nu-hip-hop-soul style, so it’s a real surprise to hear their take on “Mean Old Devil”. It’s strictly uptempo rough and tumble in the backwoods, a dark and funky blend of mutant disco, wonky breaks and electro fun. Let’s just say that it’s not called the Electric Werewolf remix lightly. In fact, it really could cross them over to a totally new audience. Meanwhile, the fabulous sleazy outer-space funk of “Galactico” gets given the extended pleasure treatment, courtesy of the edit supremo Greg Wilson, proving why he’s the man of the moment. A tweak and a snip give us dirty disco heaven. A proper remix 12″ and no mistake.
