Detroit diva Alicia Smith either swallowed an encyclopaedia before smokily recounting Egypt’s rich tapestry, or more likely paid great attention to the 70s original. Frank & Weiland’s educated lounge jazz downs a quick pick-me-up halfway through to spin into Sphinx hi-jinks, an allÐaction piano-lead striving for dancefloor reaction having done the knowledge. One lesson that you shouldn’t skip.
