To my mind, Mr Funke is one of Europe’s most distinctive and original techno producers and this new single rams that feeling home like a two-foot bacon baguette up the tradesman’s. Simple, deep and spacey, it rides a ‘French Kiss’-recalling groove-pulse woven with gorgeous strings and subtle embellishments. Remixing such a timeless piece could be tricky but Efdemin, who recently released an album on Dial, does a fantastic job, adding a unique swelling bass-throb and building intoxicating string webs like a radioactive spider. There’s never a drop in quality with this label.
