Winning Record Label of the Year on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide show hasn’t encouraged the Tru Thoughts stable to take it easy, the quality continuing to mainline the dancefloor as this latest 12″ demonstrates. “Tell It Like You Mean It” is a taster for Quantic’s latest long player, dipping into darker waters, yet still flexing heavyweight beats and basslines. The contemplative intro gives way to a fulsome groove that gets better with each listen. “Giraffe Walk” finds him paired with the inimitable Mr Scruff for some jungle japes set to loping beats and loose flute sounds. Terrific.
