Sometimes talent jumps at you and it is precisely what The Black Moss EP does. Four tracks packed with gorgeous, crazy abstract ideas and yet so musical. Influences such as hip hop, jazz, soundtracks constantly creep in but they’re being eschewed and mutated into unique phrases and sequences. Like Boards Of Canada on mental mode, Secret Frequency Crew offer a damn funky take on electronica. The Miami act really makes an impression by displaying much off-the-wall inventiveness and cinematic ambiances (reminiscent of the genius of 4AD’s Colour Box).
