A cool dreamy stand-up bass introduces the original mix of “Things We Do”, Anni Elif’s vocal pinning the whole thing down to a 1950’s restaurant in late night Paris. Even if the shuffling beats and looser phrasing on the chorus give it a more modern feel, some may struggle with the Billie Holiday-like tradition of Miss Elif’s singing. Nicola Conte supplies a four to the floor Deep Jazz Rework which is quite stunning, the freestyling trumpet and sparingly used vocals giving it a smart late summer evening vibe very close to that classic era Masters At Work template. The Tettory Bik Jazz Sport Crew mix sits somewhere between oldschool disco and hip-hop, subdued bass and repetitive chords providing a lively headnod factor as the percussion gradually builds towards a nice, stretched out finish.
