A slightly different sound to Dominic Jacobsen’s Modaji outfit on this release for the Altered Vibes label. “3 Wheel Hooky” is a funk-driven beat heavy affair, electronic blips and scratches interwoven with Maspyke’s flowing rhymes. “Jake’s Lucky Breaks” works spoken word samples and some recognisable melodies over cut-up drums; “Grass Is Greener” follows a similar route, an oldschool breakbeat and stolen vocal interludes, as does “Castles In The Air”, a melancholy, squelchy basslined late nighter. Deliberately raw and slightly old fashioned in feel, it’s prime early evening material.
