Lindstrøm’s willingness to combine pop sensibilities, hooks and the gift of experimentation always makes for albums that are entertaining and interesting, and his fifth solo long player, designed as ‘a stream of nine interlocked tracks’, continues that trend. There are some surprising moments here, especially in the alarming tendencies of ‘Bungl (Like A Ghost)’, where Jenny Hval delivers a suitably chilling vocal, a counter to the euphoric but sweetly melancholic confessional of ‘But Isn’t It’, with Frida Sundemo’s vocals. ‘Drift’ has a lovely, rising surge to its electronic contours, but as Lindstrøm says the album is the experience here, and a willingness to think outside the norm means it works well.
