Transforming Marvin’s Grammy Award winning ode to seduction into a full on clubbing experience is another that might have the purists wincing in anticipation. But to be fair, in the hands of the Freemasons, Beatfreakz, Dennis Christopher and Erick E, the mixers do a pretty good job of retooling the laidback into the upbeat. It’s a formula that’s been repeated time-and-time since the start of the millennium, and a trend that will continue to reap rewards reintroducing ‘classics’ in a new format and to an equally new generation. For the record, the Freemasons mixes are the ones that get my vote.
