Little Jackie
The World Should Revolve Around Me
S-Curve

Like a mixture of Duffy and Adele’s soul with Lily Allen’s viper wit, Little Jackie is the next superstar waiting in the wings. With a nod to the soulful Motown rhythms of the past, and a sneer to the socio-political issues that consume the public today, the dynamic Brooklyn duo (Imani Coppola & Adam Pallin), certainly have the current formula nailed. This 3-track sampler paves the way to their upcoming ‘The Stoop’ opus, with the tongue-in-cheek ‘The World Should Revolve Around Me’, a glorious ’70s pastiche of Detroit soul, harmonised vocals and brash lyrics fortified by squelchy funk. ‘The Stoop’ is pure doo-wop with funky brass licks and social and cultural wordology created by producer Michael Mangini of Digable Planets fame. Finally ‘Cryin’ For The Queen’ is more of a nod to Lily Allen with the hooky ‘girl you ain’t got no shit on me’ hook. Little Jackie is a total blast. It’s route one, sure, but what a great highway we travel along.
