Were club music to have its own national anthem, this song would surely be amongst the top three considerations. Originally the result of John Truelove’s mashing of Frankie Knuckle’s “Your Love” with the accapella of Candi Staton’s “You’ve Got The Love”, it’s enduring quality is beyond doubt, and it’s back for 2006 all loved up again. The obvious choice is Lys & Gigi’s faithful re-tweak, keeping the vibe of the original, just adding some acidic flavours to keep the original party crews happy and convert the newcomers. Shapeshifters sash and sway with a big-room, string-filled screamer, filters and breakdowns aplenty. Paradise Soul provide a progressive influenced minimal take, leaving Asle Bjorn to take care of the funkier electro end of the spectrum, and Wayne G to strip it right down to a stomping tribal burner. All bases covered? Pretty much. A hit? Easily – 2006’s first end of year tune in the making.
