MOORYC – WIPED OUT – SONAR KOLLEKTIV

Mooryc – Maurycy Zimmermann to give him his full name – tends towards the experimental in his electronic music, but here he takes a more acoustic, song based approach. The blend is a perfect fit for Sonar Kollektiv, for the songs are a bit more conventional but never ‘normal’. That much is clear by the time the wistful ‘You Will Go’ arrives, a goodbye song that leaves a tear in the eye, or ‘Save Yourself’, which has a nice oscillating guitar line. Meanwhile ‘Who Are You Now’ has a nice, warm chorus to complement its darker electronics, showing how Zimmermann gets a nice balance out of his light and dark musical elements. If you are into the likes of C Duncan you’ll like this – ‘Wiped Out’ is well worth hearing.
